Make a Paper Plate Fish Kite

Tools and Materials:

Scissors

Stapler

Paint and brushes

Felt marking pens

3 plain lightweight  paper plates

1 disposable plastic cup or heavy paper cup

String

Small roll of crepe paper streamers  (Optional, but fun)

Directions:

Paint three paper plates the color or colors of your fish. Let the paint dry.  Cut pieces from the edge of one of the plates to create the top and bottoms fins and the tail for the fish.

Staple the fins and tail in position between two paper plates, leaving the front part of the fish open.

Use a marker to draw the eye, and any other details on your fish.

Cut several lengths of crepe paper streamers and staple them between the two tail pieces. Make them long enough to blow in the wind.

Position the disposable cup between the two plates where the mouth of the fish would be. Staple it in position there. Tie a piece of string, loosely, from the left side of the mouth of the fist to the right side. In the center of the piece of string, Tie a longer piece of string and use that to hold and fly the kite.

Use:

Hold the string an pull your kite behind you as you run in the wind or swing it around it circles to watch it fly. (Make sure that no people or breakable items are in the way before swinging anything on a string.)
